The report features a half-dozen or so illustrations of the methods used by data brokers and other companies. How PayPal Shares Your Data: Rebecca Ricks has created an interactive graphic showing what customer data PayPal shares with which third parties. A static version of the graphic is shown below. Even if you're not a PayPal customer, imagine such a branching tree of private information sharing for each web service you transact with. The information PayPal shares includes your name, email address, telephone number, purchase and selling history, and total amount received to and sent from your account. |

In addition to outlining the major privacy laws in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, the guide lists what businesses need to do to ensure compliance. |
